In this beginner's taxidermy class, students will learn to skin and mount their own large mouse or small rat. Class cost includes all materials, including an ethically sourced mouse/rat, a carvable rodent mannequin form (approx 4.5 inches tall), glass eyes, a wood base, etc. Each student will leave the class having completed their own handmade piece. Class size is limited to 4 students per class for each student to receive maximum step-by-step attention from the instructor to obtain the best end results. Glass domes to protect your creation will be available for purchase at the class for an additional $50. A select amount of props will be provided free of charge by the instructor for those interested in anthropomorphizing their taxidermy (giving human characteristics/activities). Students may also bring their own props, though au natural taxidermy is never frowned upon. There is no photography, video, or audio recording allowed during class, but taking photos of your finished work and the taxidermy studio is permitted when the class is over. Please use the drop-down menu to choose your class date. The class is approximately 4 hours long. Those who are 20 minutes or later to the class will not be able to join the class. There are no refunds for classes and no rescheduling for students who cancel, miss, or are too late to their class. There is a $50 rescheduling fee if you need to reschedule 48 hours or more before the class start time. See the “Reschedule a Class” option on our Class Sign Up page for more info. There are no exceptions to these policies. All classes are BYOB if you like. Students age 13 and up are welcome to join, however those under age 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian when arriving at the class. Private classes cost $100 more than purchasing a seat in a group class when they are offered on the site. Additional students can join a friend’s private class for the price of a group class. Please email us the friend’s name and private class date if you have signed up as an additional student. We are generally available for private lessons most anytime in Sussex, NJ, and on weekends: Sundays in Greenpoint Brooklyn, NY and Saturdays or Sundays in downtown Jersey City, NJ. Please email to confirm your preferred date and location.

Gift certificates: Please use the Gift Certificate option at the top of the Classes page to purchase a gift card for a specific class or amount. You will receive a purchase email with receipt and then an automated digital gift certificate email with a redemption code which can be printed or forwarded to the recipient. The recipient can then look at the class calendar and use the code to checkout and reserve their seat for the class date they wish to attend. The value of the gift certificate can alternately be put towards any other type of class, class upgrade, or merchandise in our online shop, and expires one year from purchase date.
