XL Pair of Real Owl Butterflies in Glass Dome Bell Jar
XL Pair of Real Owl Butterflies in Glass Dome Bell Jar
from $199.00
Pair of Real Owl Butterflies from Peru in Glass Dome Bell Jar with Black or Brown wood base.
The owl butterflies are species of the genus Caligo and are known for their huge eyespots, which resemble an owl's eyes. They are found in the rainforests and secondary forests of Mexico, Central and South America.
The entire piece measures just under 1 foot tall and 6 inches wide. Please note we make many of these so each owl butterfly is naturally slightly different from the next. Ships FREE with tracking. Thanks for checking out our shop and for supporting artists and small businesses!
WHERE THEY COME FROM:
All our insects are legally obtained and have been cleared by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. We purchase them already deceased, after they die of natural causes (butterflies have an average life span of only two weeks). We do not sell any threatened species or those listed in the Endangered Species Act. Our insects come from breeders and insect farms located locally and in some of the most exotic tropical and subtropical regions on earth. Insect farming provides income for indigenous peoples, eliminates the burden on wild caught species/does not effect wild populations, and promotes the maintenance and care of natural environments rather than its exploitation, as is sometimes the case with agricultural businesses.
