In this class, students will learn to pin and mount their own Death’s Head Moth. These moths are easily distinguishable by the human skull-shaped pattern of markings on the thorax. Class cost includes the moth, entomology spreading board, entomology pins, pinning tape, and a riker mount frame, ready to hang on the wall. Each student will leave the class with their own finished moth with frame. Please use the drop-down menu to choose your class date. There is no photography, video, or audio recording allowed during class, but taking photos of your finished work and the taxidermy studio is permitted when the class is over. The class is approximately 1 hour long. Those who are 15 minutes or later to the class will not be able to join the class. There are no refunds for classes and no rescheduling for students who cancel, miss, or are too late to their class. There is a $50 rescheduling fee if you need to reschedule 48 hours or more before the class start time. See the “Reschedule a Class” option on our Class Sign Up page for more info. There are no exceptions to these policies. All classes are BYOB if you like. Students age 13 and up are welcome to join, however those under age 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian when arriving at the class. Please note: All butterfly and moth classes are scheduled to occur on the same date as our taxidermy classes, with a half hour in-between classes, for those interested in taking both. No prior experience is required. No harsh or dangerous chemicals will be used. No specimens are killed for the sake of taxidermy or entomology. Gift certificates: Please use the Gift Certificate option at the top of the Classes page to purchase a gift card for a specific class or dollar amount. You will receive a purchase email with receipt and then an automated digital gift certificate email with a redemption code which can be printed or forwarded to the recipient. The recipient can then look at the class calendar and use the code to checkout and reserve their seat for the class date they wish to attend. The value of the gift certificate can alternately be put towards any other type of class, class upgrade, or merchandise in our online shop, and expires one year from purchase date.

Private Lesson: For $100 extra, we are happy to schedule a private lesson for those who cannot make a group class calendar date. We are generally available for private lessons on weekdays, evenings, and Sundays. We are usually not available on Saturdays, as we offer group classes every Saturday. Please email to confirm your preferred date/time. The $100 additional fee for a private lesson is a flat rate that applies to ANY AMOUNT OF STUDENTS for your private class. This means that the additional fee (on top of the regular per-student price) is $100 TOTAL, be it for 1 or 4 students for a private class, making this a great option for a couple, group class, BYOB party, etc. To purchase a private lesson for you and one friend, you’d purchase one Private Lesson and one +1 to Private Lesson.
