Butterfly Pinning Class

In this class, students will learn to pin and mount a variety of butterflies. All specimens and materials are included in the class cost. Five butterflies, an entomology spreading board, entomology pins, pinning tape, and a shadowbox frame are included for each student to work on and take home with them. Butterflies species will vary due to availability. The class cost is $100 per student. Please use the drop-down menu to choose your class date. All classes are BYOB if you like. There are no refunds and no rescheduling for students who miss or cancel their class. Class size is limited to 4 students per class for each student to receive maximum step-by-step attention from the instructor to get the best end result.

Please note: All butterfly classes are scheduled to occur on the same date as a 2pm mouse, squirrel, or chipmunk taxidermy class, with a half hour in-between classes, for those interested in taking both classes. No prior experience is required. No harsh or dangerous chemicals will be used. No specimens are killed for the sake of taxidermy or entomology. Mouse/Small Rat Taxidermy Class

In this beginner's class in taxidermy, students will learn the taxidermy processes of skinning and mounting their own large mouse or small rat. All specimens are ethically sourced and each participant will receive a mouse/rat to work on, complete, and take home with them at the end of the lesson. Class includes the lesson, specimen, and all supplies, including a professional taxidermy mouse or rat mannequin form (approx 4.5 inches tall), glass eyes, wood base, etc. A select amount of props will be provided free of charge by the instructor for those interested in anthropomorphizing (giving human characteristics/activities) to their taxidermy, and students are encouraged to bring their own props, though an au natural mouse/rat is never frowned upon. Class size is limited to 4 students per class for each student to receive maximum step-by-step attention from the instructor to obtain the best end results. All classes are BYOB if you like. Please note: This is a great beginner’s class, especially for those wanting to try their hand at anthropomorphic taxidermy. For a more traditional beginner’s taxidermy class, we recommend the chipmunk and squirrel classes. No prior taxidermy experience is required. No harsh or dangerous chemicals will be used. Chipmunk Taxidermy Class

Please join us for a workshop dedicated to chipmunk taxidermy. Students will learn the basic taxidermy skinning and mounting processes hands-on. All materials - including an ethically sourced specimen, professional taxidermy mannequin form, and glass eyes - will be provided for each student. Each students will leave the class with their own finished taxidermy chipmunk. Students are encouraged to bring miniature props if they'd like to decorate their piece; a select amount of props (wood base, acorns, pine cones, moss, etc) will be provided free of charge by the instructor to those interested. Students can choose between making a 5 inch tall standing upright chipmunk or a chipmunk on all fours. Class cost is $195. Please use the drop-down menu to choose your class date. There are no refunds and no rescheduling for students who miss or cancel their class. Class size is limited to 4 students per class for each student to receive maximum step-by-step attention from the instructor to obtain the best end results. All classes are BYOB if you like. Squirrel Taxidermy Class

In this beginner's taxidermy class, students will learn the basic skinning and mounting processes involved in creating a taxidermy squirrel. Class cost includes the lesson, squirrel specimen, and all supplies including a professional quality squirrel mannequin form, glass eyes, etc. A variety of squirrel mannequins in different poses will be available at the class. Each student will leave the class with their own finished taxidermy squirrel mount. The size of the mounted squirrel is about 7 inches tall if standing upright. Students are encouraged to bring miniature props if they'd like to decorate their piece; a select amount of props (wood base, acorns, pine cones, moss, etc) will also be provided free of charge by the instructor to those interested. We invite you to join taxidermist Amber Maykut for a beginners class in raccoon taxidermy. All materials, including an ethically sourced, skinned and tanned raccoon, professional raccoon taxidermy mannequin form, glass eyes, ear liners, wood plaque, etc., will be provided for each student to learn the taxidermy mounting process. Each class member will leave class with their own taxidermy raccoon shoulder mount on a wood plaque, ready to hang on the wall. Class cost is $350. Please use the drop-down menu to choose the class date. There are no refunds and no rescheduling for students who miss or cancel their class. Class size is limited to 4 students per class for each student to receive maximum step-by-step attention from the instructor to obtain the best end results. All classes are BYOB if you like. Students may choose to return to the studio in the weeks after the class to do a free 1 hour finishing work lesson on their piece to learn to epoxy, airbrush, and grooming techniques on their piece.

Private Class Add-On

Private Class Add-On

For an additional $100, we are happy to a schedule private lesson for those who cannot make a class calendar date or those who want more one-on-one attention. Please note this fee applies to ANY AMOUNT OF STUDENTS for the private class; the additional fee is $100 total be it 1 or 5 students for a private class, making this a great option for a couple, group class, party, or people with lots of questions. Private classes can be scheduled on a weekday or weekend day. Choose the desired type of class you'd like to take and select the Gift Certificate option in it's class date drop-down menu. Then, add the Private Class option to your cart as well. We will then email you to set up a date and time for your private class. To do a specific animal not regularly offered, please email for a price quote and availability. We recommend first working on the specimens offered, as they are beginner friendly, before veering off into different animals.
